Born in Mount Edgecumbe, AK, Joe was raised as a commercial fisherman in Yakutat. He is a member of the Teikweidí (Brown Bear) clan, eagle moiety of the Yakutat Tlingit tribe. After graduating Yakutat High School, Joe attended college in Southern California. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from UCLA in 1996 and earned his Master of Arts in American Indian Studies in 1998. In 2001, he received a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School.
Joe is a member of the Alaska Bar Association, the Sealaska Board of Directors, and the Juneau Lions Club.

Eric grew up in Fairbanks Alaska. After graduating West Valley High School, he attended the University of California Santa Cruz, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2005. Between 2007 and 2009, Eric served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Eastern Uganda. After returning to the United States, he undertook several projects with the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Bureau of Land Management. In 2012 Eric moved to Juneau and began working at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Grace is from Juneau, AK. She graduated from UAS in 2011 as Outstanding Graduate of English, where she delivered the student speech at commencement. She has worked as an advocate for early education & development, for the Alaska Dept of Health & Social Services, as a professional humpback whale watcher, and public radio show host. She caught the travel bug at age 5 (for the first time) after visiting her mother’s family in their ancestral home in the Philippines. She is passionate about poetry, gardening, roller derby, food, and traveling.

Margo is from New Bedford, Massachusetts. She received a B.A. in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.Ed. from the University of Maine. She has spent time working as an environmental educator and fish and wildlife technician in Massachusetts, South Carolina, Maine, Kodiak, and Juneau. She enjoys painting, kayaking, and playing ice hockey and tennis.
