Academic Advising
UAS offers a broad range of course offerings via numerous e-Learning methods. These delivery options include courses that are audio, web based with no meeting times, web based at a specified time, or via satellite. E-Learning classes may originate from the Juneau, Sitka, or Ketchikan campuses, but students all over the state can enroll in them.
Some of our degree programs are offered entirely through e-Learning education. These include Bachelor of Business Administration, BA Elementary Education, and Bachelor of Liberal Arts, to name just a few. Students do not need to be enrolled in a distance degree program to sample a distance course offering.
Additionally, UAS students often take e-Learning courses offered through both UAA and UAF. Advisors can help students identify courses that may best transfer to their degree program at UAS and provide additional support for the various educational technologies used by the different universities in Alaska.
E-Learning students who have not decided on a major are assigned a general academic advisor who can help them choose appropriate course, identify and pursue educational goals, and provide information about student success strategies.
E-Learning students who have declared a major are assigned to an advisor (usually a faculty member) within corresponding academic departments from the campus which confers the degree of choice.
If you want to contact an academic advisor, please call 907.796.6000 or 1.877.465.4827.
