Academic Advising

Academic Advising, one of our most useful and interactive services, is the key to your success in college! An Academic Advisor offers support and guidance when choosing a degree program, selecting classes and planning academic goals. Their expertise with course sequencing, knowledge of other programs, and unique perspectives is beyond the information you will be able to read in the academic catalog. Advisors suggest strategies for academic success, offer counsel regarding employment, internships, and study abroad opportunities, as well as encourage growth and exploration.

Once you have completed the admission application process, a Certificate of Admissions will be sent you. Included with the certificate is the name and contact of your assigned Academic Advisor. Make the time to meet with your advisor before your first day of class and then continue to foster that relationship. Your commitment to a positive connection with your advisor is perhaps the most important step you can take to become a successful student.

If you are unsure of your advisor assignment, or are interested in applying for a degree program in order to have an advisor assigned, please contact the Advising Center at (907) 796-6000 or (877) 465-4827.
