UAS Student Government, the official student government of the University of Alaska Southeast, is responsible for representing student interests to the college administration and for facilitating the organization of a broad range of student committees that work to address issues and concerns and promote services that enhance students’ experience at UAS. A significant responsibility of the UAS Student Government is to initiate and act upon legislation including propals to appropriate USUAS-JC Funds as well as serving on at least two USUAS-JC standing committees. The Director of Student Activities serves as advisor to Student Government.

Elections are held each spring to fill President,Vice President, and five senator positions, with two positions reserved for Fall semester which are held in September of each year. Student Government is composed of a President, Vice President, and seven (7) senators. President and Vice President have detailed job descriptions and Senators work on specific projects identified by the senate each semester.
Spring 2012 Student Government meetings are TBA. Meetings are open to all and students are welcome to attend.
Any student (enrolled for 3 credits of ongoing semester -long courses) with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 is eligible to apply for a senate position.
