If you aren't hearing your sound in your webmeeting, here are some things to try:

  • Make sure you're using the correct audio output and have the volume turned up. You can check this by clicking the ear in the lower right hand corner, under "Audio and Visual Settings".
  • From that same menu you may choose to select your phone for audio by clicking "Use your phone for audio" and calling in to the number displayed.
  • Make sure the volume on your computer or browser is not muted.
  • It's possible no one is saying anything, you can check this by clicking the people icon in the lower right hand corner to see the attendees. From here you can see which have audio and which do not.

If you are not hearing the participants in your webmeeting session, here are a few settings you can check:

  • Make sure that the correct sound devices are selected. While in your webmeeting, click on "Tools", then "Audio", then "Audio Setup Wizard". You can select which device you wish to use as your speakers, followed by your microphone.  
  • On the left-hand side of your Blackboard Collaborate window, there will be two volume sliders. Make sure the right-hand "Speaker" volume is increased to comfortable levels.
  • Make sure the volume on your computer is not muted.
  • The other participants may simply not be speaking at all. In the participants list, you will see a speaker icon next to a participant’s name while they are talking.
