Resident Services
Support and maintenance services within the student housing complex are managed for the convenience and safety of residents. Suggestions and concerns should be directed to the Lodge Desk. Desk hours are 2:00--10:00pm, 7 days a week.
Lodge Desk
The Lodge is the center of the student housing community. The Lodge Desk serves as the point of service for residents as well as the administrative assistance and reception for the Office of Residence Life. The staff, services, and products at the Lodge Desk are managed by a Residence Coordinator. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback and to share ideas for improvements in goods and services that are made available.
Reception
All telephone calls and mail deliveries for residents and the Residence Life Staff are received at the Lodge Desk. Visitors and callers for residents, including family members, will not be provided with student phone numbers or room assignments unless the resident has signed a release of this personal information. This practice is meant to protect the privacy and safety of residents who wish to keep their contact information private. Emergency calls will be directed to an administrator, who will decide whether to share the information or to contact the resident directly to inform him or her of the emergency. Deliveries and phone messages for residents will be placed into their secured mailboxes. Residents also obtain work order forms, lost key slips, job applications, housing agreements, and other administrative paperwork from the Lodge Desk.
Copier and Fax Machine Access
A photocopier and a fax machine are available at the Lodge Desk but can only be operated by the Lodge Desk Attendant. Copies can be purchased for $.10 per page, and faxes are $1.00 for up to five pages.
Recreation and Game Rentals
Pool cues, air hockey paddles, and a variety of board games are available for checkout with a photo ID during business hours.
Video Rentals
The Lodge will eventually begin renting DVDs to Housing residents. There is no rental cost, but movies returned after the 48-hour deadline will result in a $3.00 late fee per movie, per day.
Cleaning and Maintenance Supplies
Residents may obtain light bulbs for overhead light fixtures and 9-volt batteries for smoke detectors free of charge at the Lodge Desk. Vacuums, a broom and dustpan, a mop and bucket, and a plunger may be checked out with a photo ID during business hours. The university does not provide cleaning solutions to residents.
Lost and Found
Items reportedly found in Housing that are turned in to staff will be held at the Lodge Desk for two weeks. After two weeks, or if the item is large, items of value will be locked into storage for a period of thirty days, at which point it will be discarded or donated if still unclaimed.
First Aid Kit and AED
A first aid kit and an automatic electronic defibrillator (AED) are located at the Lodge Desk. Residents are encouraged to ask for assistance whenever a potential medical or wellness concern exists and to report accidents and injuries that occur within student housing.
Motor Pool
Student Housing owns and manages three vehicles for the use of work-related errands and transportation of students to events sponsored by the larger Student Life department. Vans are not lent or rented to other departments on campus, nor can they be used by any student organization. Special requests must be approved by the Residence Life Manager. Only approved professional staff and student employees of the department who have completed the UAS driving tests and who meet all qualifications may operate these vehicles.
