Message from the
Residence Life Manager
The Residence Life Handbook is presented to you as a member of the University of Alaska Southeast residential community. It is my hope that this document is a ready reference in clarifying behavioral expectations and policies that have been established to foster each student’s educational and personal growth, while also ensuring the effective functioning of the administration.
All residents should also refer to the UAS Student Handbook for general policies and procedures of the institution. The Residence Life Handbook is designed to augment this resource, and should not contradict it in any way. The Office of Residence Life reserves the right to change or modify the rules, regulations, and policies found within this handbook and will publish those changes as they occur.
If the function of higher education is to enable us to become the most that we can be, then there is no such thing as the minimum acceptable standard. I challenge you to help us in our quest for excellence and to make the most of your residential campus experience. While this handbook provides information that you might seek to learn about life at UAS, it is you, as a concerned and invested member of this community, who can provide meaning to life on this campus.
The members of the entire Student Services staff join me in offering our assistance to you. Please feel free to call upon us. Questions regarding the reasoning behind rules, regulations, and responsibilities should be directed to members of the Residence Life staff. Our office is located in the Student Housing Lodge.
