Special Events

During each academic year, UAS offers a wealth of unique events tied to the humanities. 

On the first Friday of December, students show their artwork at Juneau’s Gallery Walk and again in two art shows, one of which is juried, scheduled every spring.

There are several writing contests that freshman students may enter, both local and statewide.

In April the Department sponsors the UAS Spring Conference, a theme-based conference that in the past has examined such topics as family, human rights, love, and work.

The annual Native Oratory Contest is planned for early spring, and when the weather turns warm the Noyes Theatre Pavilion will serve as a venue for various performing arts classes and events.
