Tidal Echoes wants your poems, stories, essays, plays, and artwork!

Submission Deadline: December 1, 2009

Eligibility: All full-time residents of Southeast Alaska are eligible to enter. If your work is previously published and you retain rights, we’ll be happy to consider it for a second publication. UAS students (full or part time) are particularly encouraged to apply; a portion of the journal will be reserved for UAS students. Southeast Alaska Native artists and writers are encouraged to submit their work.

Work Guidelines: You may submit work in more than one genre.  Please include your address on each page of the submission.  If you are a UAS student please include your UAS Student ID# on each page

Poetry: Limit 5 poems (5 pages total).

Prose: Limit 15 pages double-spaced. We welcome fiction, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, transcribed oral stories, and short plays.  You are welcome to send us cohesive partial pieces such as one scene from a play or story.

Artwork: Limit 5 pieces. All art forms are welcome (pottery, printmaking, sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, beadwork, carving, basketry, etc.) All work must be submitted in a digital format (preferably as a .jpg) via disk or email.  Please submit only one image of your work per email.  Resources are available on the UAS Juneau campus for scanning art or photographing three-dimensional art. Contact Jeremy Kane (jeremy.kane@uas.alaska.edu) at 796-6222 with questions or for help.

Cover Letter:  Submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter that includes your contact information (name, address, phone number, and email address), your UAS Student ID if you are a student, the title of each submission and a short bio (3-5 sentences). If your work has been previously published, and you retain first time rights, include information about the first publication.

Tidal Echoes acquires first time North American rights (if your work is published elsewhere after being published in Tidal Echoes, credit must be given to Tidal Echoes).
