Bonilyn built a ceramic kiln powered by waste vegetable oil.
In the summer of 2011 materials were purchased and donated from local businesses, plans were drawn, and construction of the kiln begun. By October the kiln was built and the first firing was accomplished. The kiln has been fired many times since and serves as a research tool for ceramics students as well as an opportunity to make UAS a more sustainable campus.
Bonilyn Graduated in the spring of 2012 with a BA in Art and is now pursuing an MFA in ceramics from the Ohio University.
