Being at a university offers many opportunities to get involved. It is
up to you to explore, involve, and commit to something outside the
classroom that will develop your leadership skills, explore a passion
or commit to a service project.
UAS offers a myriad of opportunities for all students, making it easy to find your
place. Do you love to be a decision maker? Check out Student Government
and run for student office or serve on a committee. Perhaps you are a
developing writer and would like an opportunity to be published. Gain
valuable experience through the student literary journal Tidal Echoes
or the Whalesong student newspaper.
Is art where your heart lies? Our beautiful campus setting provides
inspiration for artists of all types: batik, silkscreen, photography,
and ceramic clubs organize annually. Create pieces with students
sharing the same interests. Looking for spiritual growth? Try a
fellowship club. Several denominations have organized and are active on
campus. Are you an outdoor enthusiast? Hike the local trails, join the
kayak or rock climbing groups or spend the afternoon with the fly
fishing club. There are activities for all levels of ability from
novice to experienced.
Does Community Service interest you? Volunteer with the Student Alumni
Association, Student Housing, or the UAS Day of Caring. Community
service projects come up throughout the year with local non-profits.
Intramurals, Dances, Pool Tournaments, Monday Night Football keep you
active and making friends with a healthy social life. Check out the
Student Activities Center. Daily activities available to keep you
connected and motivated.
