Computer Consultants
Academic Computing is honored to have such talented student assistants
working for them. Computer Consultants answer questions, deliver
and set up equipment, and provide general guidance in the use of
software programs such as word processors, spreadsheets, web browsers,
and electronic conferencing; they also directs technology users to
information sources such as manuals, tutorials, and classes.
Computer Consultants are responsible for maintaining classroom
and lab resources and for training
students, staff, and faculty to use them. The Computer Consultants'
secondary responsibility is assisting students with navigating through
software applications. Their role is to provide direction, rather
than answers to homework, by explaining how to use the applications'
help files and manuals. However, students taking CIOS classes may
be working with software the Computer Consultants are unfamiliar
with; in such cases, you will have to work with your instructor
for support. Due to the large variety of applications and the complexity
of many, it is impossible for Computer Consultants to provide expertise
in everything.
To apply for a Computer Consultant position, fill out a UA
Employment Application Form online, print it out, and turn it
in to Whitehead building 201.
