Individual File Space and Web Hosting - All active
UAS students have 50 MB of space reserved on a UAS server to store
documents and host web pages. This service, called UASHome, will
automatically appear on all UAS Windows-based computers upon login.
The storage will be divided into two folders: one, the Docs folder,
will be a secured area accessible only by the user, and the second,
the Web folder, will automatically host files on the Internet. This
service can be used to move files from home to school and vice-versa.
Since the server is backed up on a nightly basis there's no more
worry about broken or lost floppy disks. Students will be able to
transfer files from any computer over the Internet by using an FTP
(file transfer protocol) program. To access your file space in the
computer lab, go to 'File->Save as...' navigate to <your_user_name>
on ‘UASHome\Users$’ (Z:). To access your file space
off campus, go to ftp://username@uashome.alaska.edu using Netscape
Communicator 7.1 or Internet Explorer. Username and password required.
