Macromedia Breeze for Students

Macromedia Breeze (also known as Breeze Presenter and Adobe Presenter) is an add-in to Powerpoint that provides the abililty to add audio to your presentation and publish it in a format that can be viewed on the Internet.

REQUIREMENTS:
Breeze will not work on the Windows Vista operating system, on any Windows system with Office 2007 OR on any Apple Macintosh operating system. If you have one of these systems and want to make a voice recording with a Powerpoint presentation you will have to use a Web Meeting (also called Elluminate or eLive). Instructions are on the Helpdesk site. If you have problems or questions please call the Helpdesk toll free for distance users at 1-877-465-6400 or for Juneau users at 796-6400. DO NOT wait until blood is running from your pores to ask for assistance. The Helpdesk is actually paid to take your calls!

There is currently no plug-in available for Apple computers. The PC must also have Powerpoint 2000 or higher installed for the plug-in to function properly. For a complete list of software/hardware requirements Click Here.

In addition to these requirements you will need to have a microphone to record your voice. The best choice is the headset type with an attached boom mike. They can be purchased at most computer stores for around $20.

To see and hear your presentation viewers will need the Macromedia Flash plug-in and speakers on their computer. Here is an example of a Breeze Presentation.

While a new presentation can be created and the audio added as you go, I strongly suggest you create your Powerpoint presentation first. If  you are not a good extemporaneous speaker I suggest you make a script before you do your audio. You can create your notes in Powerpoint in "slide notes"  These notes can then be made visible while adding audio to your presentation. Stumbling a bit through your presentation is not critical. If you were standing in front of the class giving this presentation you would also make some errors. Perfection is not necessary, but you want it to flow smoothly.

If you haven't created a Powerpoint presentation before here are some resources to get you started. Keep in mind that most instructors are putting their grading emphasis on content, not presentation bells and whistles. Follow your faculty's instructions carefully; spending extra time on fancy fonts, colors, animations, etc., may not pay off in a better grade.
