Quizzes created by faculty can have a wide variety
of questions types and configurations. For this reason it is important that you
pay close attention to the specific instructions for each quiz. Failing to do
so could negatively effect your score.
Question Formats
Most often quizzes will be configured with
multiple choice and/or True/False questions that will be graded and displayed automatically
after submitting. Generally, quizzes are also linked to the course
Gradebook to track and display your scores.
Your quiz may also include matching and short
answer questions. If short answer questions are included, the scoring
you see when you submit your quiz will not be your final score. In these cases
the instructor will have to manually score the short answers before providing your
final grade.
NOTE: Once you have submitted the quiz you can not access it again to edit it. Proofread
your answers before submitting them!
Accessing your Quiz
You must be signed in to UAS Online to access your
quiz. Once a quiz has been activated by your instructor it will appear in the
Assignments section of the course homesite. Quizzes may also be configured to disappear
automatically on at a specified time.
Note that UAS Online will keep track of whether
you have taken the quiz or not.
Possible Configurations for Quizzes
Number of Attempts Most quizzes only allow you to
access the quiz once. However, the instructor can change this setting to
allow you to take a quiz multiple times. Quizzes that allow multiple attempts
can bet set to record your final grade for the quiz two ways:
The score from your
first attempt will be recorded as your final grade.
The score from each new attempt will replace your previous score.
Multiple Viewings In
some cases you may be allowed to view a quiz multiple times before taking
it. In other classes you don't have this option. Make sure you know BEFORE you click on the quiz link!
Proctoring For
proctoring purposes, accessing a quiz may require a password. This
password will be provided for you by the proctor when you take the quiz.
Instructions - As you
can see there are many different ways that a quiz can be configured. Make
sure that you have read and understand all of the intructions before
beginning the quiz. If you have questions, ask the instructor for
clarification before taking the quiz.
Submitting Your Quiz Always
proofread your quiz answers before submitting them. Once submitted, you
will not be able to change.
Time Limits The instructor may set a time
limit, such as 30 minutes, in which you are required to complete your
quiz. You are responsible for tracking your time. The quiz will not stop after 30 minutes or notify you that your time
limit is up, however, your time will be recorded and reported to the instructor.
For this reason, instructors will know if you have gone over the set time
limit and may adjust your grade accordingly.
Receiving Your Grade After completing and submitting your quiz, your answers will be graded
automatically and your grade will be displayed. The correct answers may or
may not be displayed depending on the settings your instructor has chosen.
Answering Questions When answering questions on a quiz remember that questions may be formattedto have multiple correct answers. For these questions you may
have to select ALL of the correct choices in order for your answer to be
considered correct.
The score from each
new attempt will replace your previous scores.
