UAS ODS International Capstone Expedition in Ecuador
The Outdoor Studies program
embarked on its first international capstone expedition over the 2012-13 holiday break. The expedition was based in Quito, Ecuador in a high elevation area in the foothills. Highlights included climbing the 12,000 foot Volcan Pichincha and a ski on Mt. Cayambe at 18,996 ft. Some members climbed 15,696 ft. Mt. Pichincha on Dec. 30, 2012 and 19,347 ft. Mt. Cotopaxi,. on Jan. 7, 2013. The trip was led by Outdoor Studies faculty members Forrest Wagner and Kevin Krein. Eight junior and senior level outdoor studies students participated.
