Budget planning guide:
Tuition and Fees: These costs vary with the student's educational level (graduate or undergraduate), enrollment status (full- or part-time) and residency (Alaska resident, Western Undergraduate Exchange, or  non-resident). Averages are listed on year-specific budgets. For tuition and fee information view the UAS Tuition schedule.

Books and Supplies: These costs vary with a student's course load. Averages are listed on year-specific budgets. Please review the budget links below.

Food: An allowance of about $425/month seems to be sufficient for most students.
Campus Housing: In Juneau, costs vary for a single occupancy study-bedroom, an apartment, and family housing. Averages are listed on year-specific budgets.
Off-Campus Housing: The average cost of a two-bedroom apartment is approximately $765/month per person.
Transportation: An allowance of about $370 per semester for full-time status, is sufficient to meet most needs. The cost depends on how close a student lives to campus and their car expenses. Students may also request aid for airfare if they plan to return to their hometown during the school year.

Personal Expenses: A student should budget for clothing, laundry, medical and dental expenses, recreation, personal supplies and other items. An allowance of $160 per month is usually sufficient.

Personal Computer and Child Care: Within limits, these expenses can be included in your budget if they are related to your education. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for further information.

For more detailed information go to the Cost of Attendance.

4 . Can I receive financial Aid?^

Financial aid makes college affordable. It can help pay for tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation, school-related child care costs, and miscellaneous living expenses.

State and federal governments, the university, and many private organizations offer grants, scholarships, loans and employment opportunities to students who demonstrate need for such assistance. All applications for financial aid for students in Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka are processed in Juneau.

For more detailed information go our Financial Aid Site.
