Figuring out how to pay for college can be confusing; our academic advisors are here to help. Applying for financial aid is a multi-step process so start as early as possible before school starts. If you have been required to submit any forms they are available online at our Financial Aid Forms page.
By accepting financial aid you agree to meet the UAS Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
Major Sources of Financial Aid
Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA)
File your FAFSA to apply for the Pell Grant, student loans and work-study. Click here for instructions on applying for federal financial aid.
Even if you don't think you will qualify for grants, or don't desire to take out loans, having a FAFSA on file is required to be considered for state grants and university scholarships.
Every student should file a FAFSA!
FAFSA SCHOOL CODE: 001065 UAS KETCHIKAN (listed under Juneau)
Apply for scholarships. Our Scholarship Page includes applications for local scholarships and links to other regional and national opportunities.
Scholarships are based on a variety of criteria, and not all require financial need or a perfect GPA.
Most scholarships require an essay with academic goals. Don’t be intimidated – we can help.
VA Education Benefits
If you are a veteran or qualified dependent, you may qualify for VA Education benefits. To receive benefits you must apply for Veteran Benefits with the federal government and complete and submit a Request to Begin VA Benefits to the UAS Financial Aid Office.
Students receiving VA benefits are also eligible to apply for federal financial aid, and may also apply for scholarships.
