Job Search
The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide valuable assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives. Revised every two years, the Handbook describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects in a wide range of occupations.
Alaska Career Information System (AKCIS) is a comprehensive, user-friendly career information and planning software program designed to help teens and adults explore career and educational opportunities in Alaska and throughout the U.S. Contact the Student Resource Center for a username and password.
AKCIS provides:
- Detailed descriptions of nearly 500 occupations.
- Information on more than 4,000 accredited two- and four-year colleges, universities and technical schools.
- Advice and information on financial aid, including sources for more than 1,200 scholarships.
- Information to assist individuals in their job search, from filling out application forms and practicing for interviews, to creating resumes and cover letters.

A description of careers starting with general categories. A 34-question inventory that matches one's temperament, interests, abilities and job characteristics to potential careers will be listed on the site again soon.
