Soar into UAS
New Student Orientation is REQUIRED for all new full-time freshmen (first time students registered for 12 or more credits), the fee for Orientation is $75 and will be billed to your student account. Orientation is highly recommended for transfer and new or returning adult students; the cost to attend will be billed to your student account after you sign up.
Students participating in the National and International Student Exchange Program are also required to participate in day one of orientation, day two is optional. Contact the Academic Exchange Office at (907) 796-6455 for more information.
New Student Orientation will:
- Ease your transition to college
- Teach you skills necessary for academic success
- Help you build new friendships
- Give you a sense of belonging to the University of Alaska Southeast
Orientation Sessions
Monday, August 25th - Housing Move-in / Finalize enrollment needs
Student Housing is open for move-in, there will be transportation from both the ferry terminal and the airport. If you need transportation from either the ferry terminal or airport, please contact Julie Staveland at jcstaveland@uas.alaska.edu. This is also an excellent time for students to complete their enrollment, from taking placement tests and completing their registration, to buying books and getting their student ID.
Tuesday August 26th - New Student Orientation, Day 1
Day One of Orientation is intended to get students familiar with campus and how to navigate the resources available at UAS. We strongly recommend that students take care of any unfinished enrollment needs before Orientation.
Wednesday August 27th - New Student Orientation, Day 2
Day Two of Orientation is intended to get students to interact with staff and faculty as well as expose students to exciting activities available in Juneau.Please confirm your attendance at orientation using the Online form or call Julie Staveland at 907-796-6430 or toll-free at 1-877-465-4827 ext. 6430.
