Date of Press Release: 5-11-2016
Juneau Jazz & Classics celebrates its 30th anniversary with the 14th Annual Community Day on Campus.
A day of live music, activities and arts for the whole family:
May 14, 2016
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Activities include a bouncy house, the DIPAC petting zoo, various art projects, food trucks, and more – rather spontaneously.
Community Day on Campus is in its 14th year. In 2001 the Festival celebrated its 15th Anniversary with an amazing string concert by the waterfall at the Mendenhall Glacier. The success of that outdoor event inspired Community Day, variously called Family Day, on campus as a free, family event with music and activities for families. More than 1000 people often turn out to enjoy the festivities.
The integration of the Elementary School Juried Student Art Exhibit, now in its 3rd year, continues the tradition of celebrating all of the arts and creativity in Juneau. Deputy Mayor Jesse Kiehl will present the awards to the student artists.
