March
3, 1999 University of Alaska President Mark Hamilton today named UAS Chancellor Marshall Lind as the new chancellor at the University Alaska Fairbanks. "After 12 years at UAS it was a pretty tough decision," Lind told faculty, students at staff at a late afternoon meeting on the Juneau campus. Lind said he would begin his new duties at UAF sometime after July 1. "IÍm excited about the challenge," Lind said. "This is a tough group to leave. The faculty, students and administrative team we have here are top notch. Sometimes you reach a point where you need to move on to another challenge." Lind will become the fourth UAF chancellor. He succeeds Joan Wadlow who will retire at the end of June. No announcements have been made about a replacement for Lind at UAS. -30-
