June
19, 1999 A new concrete walkway to the totem pole on the University of Alaska Southeast campus is in place because Bob Broddy Concrete donated their labor. Broddy put in the forms on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday morning (June 19) the crew poured the concrete. "We were doing work for the university last year," Broddy said, " and we noticed some of the seniors had a hard time getting to the totem pole. We asked if it was OK if we donated a walkway." Bob Green, UAS Physical Plant director, said the walkway had been planed for the future when money became available. "It would have been a lot later if Santa Claus hadnt come along." The pouring began at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and the project was to be completed in one day. The university is paying for the materials. -30-
