SHAKESPEARE AND MARINE TECHNOLOGY ARE LATE STARTING UAS CLASSES

Staging Shakespeare is one of several late starting UAS fall classes. The theater class offers credit for working on the Perseverance TheatreÍs upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet. The class, taught by PerseveranceÍs artistic director Peter DuBois, begins Tuesday (Sept 21) and includes a seminar and labs.

Half a dozen Marine Technology classes have late start dates and students may still register. Fiberglass Moldmaking and Tooling begins Oct. 1 and will teach students how to work on their own projects such as a boat deckhouse, a camper shell, hot tub, etc. "These are the skills necessary to work in the fiberglass industry," according to Gary Bowen, associate dean of career education. "This is the first time a class like this has been offered."

Other Marine Technology classes and their beginning dates include:

  • Refrigeration for Fishing Vessels, October 4.
  • Inboard/Stern Drive Maintenance, October 8.
  • Marine Transmissions, October 12.
  • Marine Tech Lab, October 25.
  • Carvel Plank Boatbuilding, November 12
  • Applied Marine Hydraulics, December 13

For information about the Marine Technology classes call 465-8770. For information about Staging Shakespeare call 364-4221 X 28.

Students may register at the UAS Auke Lake campus.
