LYNNE JOHNSON APPOINTED AT UAS Lynne Johnson of Juneau has been appointed University of Alaska Southeast Development Officer and Alumni Association Coordinator by Chancellor John Pugh. "Lynne will serve as our campus contact with corporations and foundations who are willing to support higher education," according to Pugh. "In addition Lynne will work with our very active alumni association in their efforts to support UAS and raise funds for UAS scholarships." Johnson has worked in development for over ten years. She was executive director of the Kenai Peninsula United Way and campaign manager for the successful $4 million Kenai Peninsula Borough capital campaign. Johnson has also worked in educational development at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Alaska Foundation. "UAS has needs beyond those funded by the legislature," Pugh said. "Individual and corporate funds allow us the flexibility to enrich the educational experiences of our students and to purchase needed specialized equipment for various art, science, business, and computer technology programs. Corporate gifts have the additional benefit to the corporation in that they may qualify for Alaska tax credits." Johnson and her family moved from Kenai to Juneau in 1998. She will report to the chancellor in her new position. -30- |
