WOMEN'S HISTORY SERIES CONCLUDES THIS WEEK AT UAS

The final two presentations in the month-long Women's History series at UAS take place Wednesday and Friday.

On Wednesday, Anchorage artist and art writer Wanda Seamster will present a talk with slides titled, "A Thousand Armies of One: Women in the Visual Arts of Alaska. She will discuss problems of acceptance faced by women artists, feminist art, and how women artists are doing in Alaska. She speaks at noon in Egan Library room 105 on the UAS campus.

On Friday, the topic is "Roles of Women in Alaskan Native Cultures." It will be presented by Assistant Professor of Anthropology Rosita Worl, Representative Mary Kapsner, Elder Lydia George, and Native and Rural Student Center Director Pattie Adkisson. They speak at noon in the Mourant Building's Lake Room.

All the presentations are free and open to the public.

Six previous presentations have been made during March on women writers, international women's issues, changing gender roles following WW I, the women's movement in Europe, media and gender, and a discussion of Mary Parker Follett who was an early management consultant.
