Special Registrations Set for UAS Spring Semester Three special registrations take place this week at the University of Alaska Southeast. New student orientation takes place today. Spring semester classes begin Tuesday (Jan. 16). Thursday, (Jan. 11) the UAS Auke Lake registration office will be open until 8 p.m. to allow for later registration. In addition the bookstore, cashier, financial aid and other campus offices will remain open late. On Friday, (Jan. 12) a downtown registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bill Ray Center. On Saturday, (Jan. 13) registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nugget Mall for Career Education classes. These include classes in computers, nursing, construction, marine technology, auto, diesel and welding. Faculty will be at the mall to answer questions. "We know that lot of people work the hours we're open," registrar Lori Exferd said, "so we want to give them extra time Thursday to come to the Auke Lake campus to register. We have the downtown registration Friday to serve our students who live in that area." Regular registration continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the UAS Auke Lake campus. The campus will be closed on Monday, January 15, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday. -30-
