May 4, 2001 Students who earned their Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Alaska Southeast through distance delivery will take part in graduation ceremonies the same way. The graduation will take place in the UAS media classroom at 6 p.m. on Monday, (May 7). That is the same location where the classes originate and are broadcast to students across Alaska and in the Yukon. Six MPA graduates will watch the ceremony in their hometowns in Kodiak, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Whitehorse. The seventh graduate is from Juneau and will take part in the ceremonies in person. "It's sort of a virtual graduation that involves people in many different places," according to Dr. Jonathan Anderson who directs the MPA program. "I don't think there is another graduation like this." Department of Administration Commissioner Jim Duncan, who has taught at UAS, will be the commencement speaker. The Master of Public Administration commencement may be seen in Juneau on cable channel 18. -30-
