27, 2001 Lynne Johnson, University of Alaska Southeast development director, has been awarded the professional designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). She is one of only four in Alaska and joins 4,030 professionals worldwide who have earned the CFRE designation. Individuals are granted the credential only after meeting a series of standards set by the CFRE Board. Standards include tenure in the profession, education, professional achievement and commitment to service to not-for-profit organizations. Additionally, Johnson had to pass a written examination testing the knowledge, skills and abilities required of a fund-raising executive. Johnson was appointed UAS development director nearly two years ago. In that position she serves as the campus contact with individuals, corporations and foundations who are willing to support higher education. She also works with the UAS Alumni Association in their efforts to raise funds for scholarships. Johnson has worked in development for over 12 years. She was executive director of the Kenai Peninsula United Way and campaign manager for the successful $4 million Kenai Peninsula Borough capital campaign for the Nikiski Pool Project. Johnson has also worked in educational development at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Alaska Foundation. -30-
