January 7, 2002 Information meetings with faculty will be held Wednesday (Jan. 9) for those interested in UAS Computer Information and Office Systems, Power Technology and Construction Technology programs. "This is an opportunity for people interested in these programs and spring semester classes to meet the faculty, see the labs, and ask questions," according to UAS Dean of Career Education Karen Schmitt. The Computer Information and Office System faculty will meet with the public from noon to 1 p.m. and from 7 - 8 p.m. on the UAS Auke Lake campus in Whitehead 201. The Construction Technology and Power Technology meetings are from 4 -7 p.m. in the Marine Tech Building, (across from JDHS) Schmitt said Career Education classes and programs are designed to help people move forward in their career goals and update their skills and information. "Construction, auto mechanics, power and diesel technology are all systems that move our infrastructure forward and keep the economy moving," Schmitt said. She also said the demands on people in those fields as far as technical skills are rising all the time. "They need the technical skills to troubleshoot and operate equipment that is highly sophisticated and rising all the time. It's just the same as for those in computer and information systems." -30-
