March 3, 2003 In an effort to keep down the cost to perspective students traveling to the three University of Alaska Southeast campuses, UAS has teamed with the Alaska Marine Highway to create the CamPass. The CamPass allows a perspective student and one chaperone to travel from any city the ferry services to Ketchikan, Sitka or Juneau for a campus visit at 50 percent of the normal fare. The discount also applies to cabins, depending on availability. The rate is only available during, what the Marine Highway calls, AlaskaTime, which is Oct. 1 through April 30. “During AlaskaTime we continue to try to find ways in which to provide increased benefits to our riders, which happen to be primarily Alaskans, Said Capt. George Capacci General Manager of AMH. “We think this partnership is a great boost for Alaskans – and for Alaska’s university system.” “ I think this partnership is just one more example of our dedication to making a UAS education more accessible,” said Dean of Students Paul Kraft. “It’s great that the Alaska Marine Highway is willing to make this available to our perspective students. We hope a lot of people take advantage of this and come see what an amazing place we have at UAS.” A Student Councilor needs to verify every request for a CamPass. To take advantage of the discounted fare choose the easiest method to complete the request form. Return the to the Jodi Barnes and Jodi will tailor your visit to suit your needs. -30-
