March 11, 2003 In an effort to meet the unique business needs of Alaskans, the University of Alaska Southeast is offering a Web-based Master’s degree in Business Administration. The MBA program is not new to UAS, but what is new is the delivery method. “The program was modified to reflect current available technology,” said MBA Director Michael E. Dwyer, “as well as the state’s need for practical, relevant and accessible business education.” The curriculum was designed using Alaskan business cases and is being offered primarily within the state. “A lot of Alaskan business gets done in remote areas,” said UAS Provost Roberta Stell. “We anticipate a lot of people in the resource industry who work outside the urban areas will be very interested in the Web-based MBA program.” The cohort model has been widely praised for its positive impacts on the learners’ teamwork and lifelong networking. The first cohort of students will begin its study in early September 2003. Applications to the program are welcome. Please visit http://www.uas.alaska.edu/mba for more details. September 2003 cohort applicants are encouraged to apply by April 21, 2003. -30-
