April 25, 2003 Dimond Courthouse Courtyard Juneau: Students from kindergarten
through university, business leaders, educators and community members
that oppose
to the planned state government cut to the education budget will meet
at a rally at the Dimond Courthouse Courtyard on Friday, April 25 at
noon. Education funding is critical for the future of the state,” said UAS Chancellor John Pugh. “We are graduating Alaska’s best and brightest students, because we have been able to offer them what they want here at home. It will be shame for the students if we can no longer fund those programs, but it will be a disaster for the state’s economy to continue to lose our young people to the lower 48.” Busses from UAS will arrive at the Dimond Courthouse at noon; students will be wearing UA logo clothing and carrying signs in support of education.
