34th UAS Commencement Ceremony
The University of Alaska Southeast is holding its 34th Commencement Ceremony this Sunday, May 8 at 2 p.m. in Centennial Hall. Two-hundred-and-ninety graduates have been invited to receive their diplomas, the most ever for a UAS Graduation. This year’s Commencement Speaker is Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation Executive Director Michael J. Burns.
Robert C. Janes Sr. will be honored with the Meritorious Service Award for his involvement in developing the Eaglecrest Ski Area and for his advocacy of winter sports, backcountry safety, and accessibility for disabled skiers for the past 40 years.
Linda Rosenthal, violinist and founder of Juneau Jazz and Classics, will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for her virtuosity as a musician, for her commitment to music education and for the vitality that Juneau Jazz and Classics brings to the Southeast community.
