September 1 , 2005 UAS Mourns the Loss of Jody Watson The University of Alaska Southeast is mourning the loss of Jody Watson, 25, of Aberdeen, Washington. Jody was in a fatal car accident on Brotherhood Bridge in Juneau on Wednesday night. University officials have been in contact Jody’s mother to share condolences and prayers. Jody was a student in the Bachelors of Liberal Arts program and an employee of the University since 2002. Jody came to Alaska from Washington and started her academic career at UAS Ketchikan, transferring to Juneau in ’03 and earning her Associate of Arts in May of ’04. She was on track to graduate with a Bachelors of Liberal Arts at the end of the spring semester. Co-workers placed a bouquet of flowers on her computer at the start of work this morning. She was adored by her fellow workers and students. She was active in the Student Alumni Association. Juneau Mental Health has been asked to help counsel the grieving on campus, and a memorial is being planned. More information regarding the memorial service will be shared with the community as it becomes available. Contact: Kevin Myers, UAS Director of PR and Marketing: 796-6530 -30-
