UAS Accepting Students Displaced by Katrina
The University of Alaska Southeast is joining the nation in assisting victims of hurricane Katrina. UAS is accepting late applications for the fall semester and is offering in-state tuition to any student displaced from a university affected by Katrina.
"We want to do all we all can to help those students to continue their educations without interruption and to make their transitions as easy as possible," said UAS Chancellor John Pugh. "We are reaching out to our community to help spread the word of our offer. If you know of any student whose university is affected, please have them contact us."
The UAS admission department can be reached at 796-6100. Student Housing is limited but the University will work with the community to house as many students as possible.
UAS Student Government is accepting donations to give to the Red Cross and in exchange is offering Mardi Gras Beads to wear as a show of support for the victims.
