Climbing Coordinator - Position Filled

MAJOR DUTIES

  1. Schedule and coordinate orientation/safety sessions
  2. Instruct SAC help desk climbing wall monitoring workshops
  3. Instruct climbing skills workshops
  4. Oversee the safe usage of the climbing facility
  5. Coordinate the setting of new climbing routes
  6. Monitor climbing equipment inventory
  7. Assist in the creation of skill workshop curriculum
  8. Work closely with the Manager of the Student Activities Center in the administration of the climbing program and the renting/retail of equipment through the Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC).
  9. Responsible for knowledge of Climbing Facility Handbook and to assist with its creation and/or modification.
  10. Attend appropriate staff workshops and staff meetings

SALARY
$9.50 per hour

Outdoor Program Coordinator - Position Filled

MAJOR DUTIES:

  1. Plan regularly scheduled outdoor programs and trips both on and off campus. Advertise, outfit, schedule and lead these programs.
  2. Assures proper safety and instruction guidelines are reviewed before each event. Collect liability waivers from each participant before events.
  3. Coordinate special events (i.e., 5k walk, day hikes, overnight adventures, kayaking, tide line walks, skiing, snowshoeing, safety and wilderness survival and on-campus activities)
  4. Provide kayak and other gear orientations to staff and Rec Center members.
  5. Meet regularly with supevisors to discus direction of program, discus concerns and updates on attendance. Keep records or attendance and liability waivers for filing.
  6. Maintain equipment inventory, responsible for condition of equipment and should report repairs to supervisor in an timely manner.
  7. Have an awareness of rental gear form and watch to make sure they are being filled out correctly.Record departmental use of rental gear.
  8. Attend staff workshops and meetings as scheduled.
  9. Other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

SALARY
$9.50 per hour

Intramurals Coordinator - Position Filled

MAJOR DUTIES

  1. Enter UAS in City League teams for basketball, softball and coed volleyball. Recruit teams, advertise activity, advise team captains, order uniforms, advertise standing.
  2. Schedule and supervise intramural activities in the recreation center. Responsible for equipment and condition of the gym.
  3. Coordinate UAS intramurals, special events and other recreational program (i.e. gym sports, swimming, bowling, tournaments).
  4. Produce flyers, Whalesong ads and Activities newsletter articles to promote intramural and special events. Coordinate with other UAS campuses.
  5. Meet weekly (check-in) with supervisor to determine direction of program, discuss concerns and update on attendance.
  6. Collect liability waiver forms from each participant prior to their participation in any UAS event. Regulate only UAS students, faculty and staff who are participants in events.
  7. Review rules with participants before each activity. Purchase any prizes/awards for events.
  8. Work with Intramural Officials to make sure they are prepared and knowledgeable of game rules.
  9. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 SALARY: $9.50 per hour

 Evening Lead Attendant and Intramural Official

  1. Officiate all team intramural contests and help train any other officials needed.
  2. Ensure that all rules of play are followed and any rule violations are called. Ensure the safety and integrity of all intramural games.
  3. Assist Intramural Coordinator with scheduling, posting, recruiting and reporting league contests.
  4. Ensure equipment is set up for games and in good operating condition.
  5. Monitor team rosters and ensure compliance with rules during each contest.
  6. Perform some cleaning responsibilites within the Rec Center. 
  7. Act as a liason between evening Help Desk Attendants and Rec Center supervisors.
  8. Help train new staff in the policies and procedures at the Help Desk.
  9. Attend appropriate staff workshops and meetings.
  10. Communicate frequently with the management staff about any issues in the office concerning staff, inventory, events, policies or incidents.
  11. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
SALARY: $9.50 per hour

Daytime Lead Help Desk Attendant - Position Filled

  1.  Write and post weekly staff notes after getting information from other coordinators and supervisors.
  2.  Help other coordinators prepare for events with food, advertising, organization, supplies   and be available to actually help assist at the events.
  3. Balance the till weekly and do the deposit.
  4. Keep track of Pepsi and Northern Sales products that need to be ordered to stock the concessions and put these orders through. Help with other inventory when necessary.
  5. Make sure special events are being posted on the school calendar.
  6. Continue with everyday REC help desk duties when working the front desk.
  7. Keep an eye on office forms (waivers, sign up sheets, till sheets etc) and make copies when necessary so we don’t run out.  
  8. Attend staff workshops and meetings when scheduled.
  9. Consistently watch the cash register to make sure there is enough change, paper and ink.
  10. Communicate frequently with management staff about any issues in the office concerning staff, inventory, events, policies or incidents.

SALARY: $9.50 per hour

Rec Center Help Desk Attendant - All positions filled at this time

MAJOR DUTIES:

  1. Oversee the safe usage of the Recreation & Student Activities Center.
  2. Monitor entry into the Recreation Center Facility.
  3. Use the cash register when selling concessions, memberships and other equipment.
  4. Roam facility areas for safe use of equipment and safety of participants.
  5. Maintain and inventory equipment on a scheduled basis.
  6. Perform cleaning responsibilities within the Rec Center.
  7. Assist with academic class and activity set up when scheduled.
  8. Assist with event set-up, advertising, ticket sales and event take down when appropriate to schedule.
  9. Prepare food in in the Juice and Java kitchen while on duty.
  10. Rent equipment from the Outdoor Recreation Center and assist with repairs when requested.
  11. Attend appropriate staff workshops and meetings.
  12. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

SALARY
$8.50 per hour
