Lodge Dog Program
The Lodge Dog Program allows one professional staff member to house a dog in their on-campus residence that is to frequent the Lodge and be accessible to students. Addison Montgomery Shepherd, or "Addie", is currently the Lodge Dog at UAS. Addie is a two-year old female Golden Retriever who is very social and welcomes attention from students. Addie enjoys sunsets, cuddling, and walks on the beach.
Residents are able to play with Addie in the Lodge whenever she is present. She has a basket of approved toys, and usually will present residents with her toy of choice, inviting them for an invigorating game of "tug" or "drag the limp dog". Addie also has a leash that can be checked out from the Lodge Desk so that residents can take her for walks or short hikes.
For Addie's health, safety, and to help encourage her to have good manners, residents are asked to observe
Washko's requests when playing with the dog:
- Addie should not be taken outside without a leash or left unattended.
- Do not allow Addie to jump up on anyone (This is a rude habit that may cause her to hurt small children or damage clothing.)
- Do not bring Addie inside student residences or Banfield Hall
- Please do not allow Addie on couches or other furniture.
- Deter Addie from investigating trash cans, eating people food, eating grass, or chewing things other than her toys.
- When taking Addie outside, keep her clean.
