Registration Info Spring 2007

The University of Alaska Southeast welcomes anyone who is interested in taking classes for the semester. If you are a continuing student pursuing a degree program, we encourage you to register early in order to reserve seating in the classes you need to progress toward graduation. If you are a new student, it’s also very important that you speak with an advisor well before classes begin in order to get registered early. For non-degree seeking students wanting to take one or more classes for personal enjoyment, feel free to register before classes begin.

Web Registration

To protect the security of your records, you will be asked to change your PIN the first time that you log into the system. Web registration is available till Jan. 22nd at 5:00pm (Alaska Time). After this date you will have to register by one of the other methods listed below.

  • If you are a new student at UAS and not admitted to a degree program you must register at Admissions and Records (Novatney, 2nd floor). You will need the Course Registration form (PDF | 78KB).
  • Plan your schedule before logging on to UAOnline. For the latest schedule of classes, be sure to use the online schedule. Include alternate class choices, should your first choice be unavailable.
  • New Students at UAS admitted to a degree program and returning students that have taken classes at UAS in the past 2 years may follow the procedures below:
    1. Go to UAOnline and select "Log-in to secured area".
    2. Log-in by entering your 8 digit student ID number, or your SSN if you were a student prior to June 2004.
    3. Enter your 6-digit PIN, (initially your date of birth), MMDDYY format.
    4. Choose "Student Services".
    5. Click on "Registration" and follow the prompts.
    6. When you are finished, click on "Return to home page" to logout and protect your records.
    7. Be sure to drop any courses you decide not to take. You are responsible academically and financially for your registration activity.
Registration By Mail or Fax

Plan your schedule using either the online schedule (updated daily) or a printed schedule available at Juneau libraries, news racks and in campus facilities. Complete the Course Registration Form (PDF | 78KB). Please be sure to complete the entire registration form. For mail-in registration, enclose check, money order, or Visa,or Mastercard number and expiration date. Fax forms may include credit card number and expiration date.

Personal Information Changes

Update your current address, telephone number and email address at UAOnline or the Admissons & Records Office to receive information from UAS in a timely manner.

Use of Social Security Numbers

The University of Alaska assigns an 8-digit identification number for each student. Students are responsible for remembering the assigned number and using it in all future dealings with the University, including web access. (Please note: the University is still required to collect a valid social security number from each student for tax, employment and federal financial aid purposes.)

Course Schedule Changes

The course schedule is subject to change and is updated regularly on the UAS Website. Most classes in this schedule require minimum enrollment and students are encouraged to register early.

Prerequisites For Courses

You are responsible for having met the prerequisites for the courses. Prerequisites are listed in individual course descriptions in this schedule. If you have not taken the necessary prerequisites but feel confident to perform the course work, you may request permission from the instructor of the course to enroll in the class, and have the instructor sign the registration form. Junior or senior class standing is needed to enroll in 300 or 400 level classes.

Grades

Grades are accessible at UAOnline shortly after classes end. To obtain your grades, log in to the secure site and follow the directions provided. Note: Your grades will not be mailed to you.

Transcript Request

To receive official or unofficial transcripts or to send official transcript requests to UAS, please follow the appropriate steps:

Receiving Official and Unofficial Transcripts
Official transcripts can be obtained from the UAS Admissons and Records Office, Novatney 2nd floor using the Transcript Request Form (PDF | 30KB) at $7/copy or an additional $5 for rush processing. Official transcripts may also be ordered online from the National Student Clearinghouse:

  1. Visit www.getmytranscript.com and select your school.
  2. Create your user ID/password and profile (saves your information for future orders).
  3. Let Transcript Ordering walk you through placing your order
  4. Check your email for updates on the status of your transcript order.
  5. Log onto www.getmytranscript.com (using the user ID/password you created) to obtain real-time status and history whenever you want.

Receiving Unofficial Transcripts
Unofficial transcripts can be obtained online at UAOnline. Log into UAOnline, select Student Services followed by Student Records. Select Academic Transcript from the menu. If you have any questions about how to log in, please contact Admissions and Records at (907) 796-6268.

Graduation

Diplomas are awarded in the summer, fall and spring semesters. Graduation applications and other important info can be found on the Commencement Website. The graduation application deadlines are:

  • Spring: February 15th
  • Summer: July 1st
  • Fall: October 1st
Diplomas are mailed the month following the end of the semester (e.g. in January for fall graduates). A commencement ceremony is held once a year in May.
