TUITION & FEES Spring 2007

Financial Obligation for Spring

Tuition for spring classes must be received by January 12, or at the time of your registration. Fee payment by cash, check, money order, or credit card is available at the Student Accounts office located in the bookstore on the Auke Lake campus. Payment by credit card is available via Web Registration (Visa or Mastercard only) at UAOnline by selecting “Login to Secured area” and follow the prompts. You can also fax payment information to the UAS Student Accounts office at 796-6006.

If you have your Financial Aid Application complete and the UAS financial aid officer has offered you aid and you have accepted it, financial aid will be disbursed on January 6, 2007.

If you register and attend classes, the University holds you financially responsible.

  • Tuition does not include student fees or lab/material fees.
  • University policy requires a financial hold be placed on your record if you fail to meet your financial obligations. This hold will prevent any enrollment, transcript or graduation activity. Past due accounts will be sent to a collection agency and assessed collection costs. Interest, late fees, or collection costs must be paid before the financial hold will be removed.

The Board of Regents of the University of Alaska approves all tuition and fees. The university reserves the right to change or add to its fees at any time. Fee assessments are subject to audit and correction, and any such adjustments will be made following the close of late registration. Students will be notified by mail of any adjustments.

Residency

For purposes of tuition, a resident is any person who has been physically present in Alaska for two years and who has declared their intention to remain in Alaska indefinitely. However, any persons who, within one year, have declared themselves to be residents of another state, voted in another state, or performed any act inconsistent with Alaska Residency shall be deemed as non-residents for purposes of non-resident tuition. Non-residents wishing to apply for residency may pick up an Application for Change of Residency Status form at the Admissions & Records office or from the UAS forms page.

Agency Sponsored Students

Students receiving tuition assistance from agencies are responsible for ensuring that the necessary authorization forms have been submitted to the UAS Student Accounts office by the payment deadline.

Spring 2008 Tuition Schedule

Additional credits are assessed at the appropriate rate per credit. For non-residents, these rates are $399 per credit for lower division, $414 for upper division, and $547 for graduate credit.

  • Non-residents may take up to 4 credits per semester at the resident rate; however, additional credits will cause all credits, including the first four, to be re-assessed at the non-resident rate.
  • For Alaskan residents, additional credits are assessed at $120 per credit for lower division, $135 for upper division, and $268 for graduate credit.
  • Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program: residents of Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming and are eligible to pay the resident tuition rate plus $60/credit at UAS if they apply and are accepted for admission under the WUE program.

More information on projected expense can be obtained from the financial aid web site.

Tuition prices vary, based upon the following criteria:

  • Lower division (000 - 299 level), upper division (300-499 level) and graduate (600-699 level) courses.
  • Resident - State of Alaska, Sister City, Yukon and Northwest Territory residents.
  • Non-resident - Residents of all non-WUE states, International students.
