UAS Graduation Regalia and Merchandise

Sitka graduates may order graduation apparel at the Sitka Information Desk on campus. The Student Government Association covers the rental cost, but students wishing to purchase graduation apparel may contact an advisor at 907-747-7703 or 747-7781. Invitations for commencement are available at the Sitka Student Success Center, 907-747-7700.

Sitka students may purchase UAS insignia clothing through the Sitka Business Office on campus.

Additional UAS merchandise can be purchased at the UAS bookstore in Juneau They carry school supplies, art supplies, study aids, reference books, software, general books, insignia items, clothing and a collection of Fair Trade gifts. Tuition Management Systems

If you would like to pay your education expenses monthly, use the interest-free monthly payment option offered by our partner, Tuition Management Systems. The payment plan is available for a small enrollment fee and includes personal account service, automated account information 24 hours a day, and access to your account through their Website. Financial Aid

Financial aid is available in three forms: grants and scholarships (not repaid), educational loans (repaid), and part-time student jobs. Students should contact an advisor for information and application materials or check the UAS financial aid website.

Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver

Alaska residents 65 years and older and those who have used the senior waiver previously may be eligible for a senior citizen tuition waiver, depending upon class space availability. Senior citizens using tuition waivers may register only:

  1. on or after the first day of the semester for semester-based classes; or
  2. on or after the first day of class for short-term courses.

This waiver pays tuition only. Payment for course and student fees is the student’s responsibility and is due at the time of registration.

Placement Testing

Most English and mathematics classes have specific prerequisites that require placement testing. Newly admitted students and those who have not previously met those requirements will need to take placements tests. Placement testing is available through the Student Success Center and on-line, available to distance students. Placements tests may also be required for certain computer classes. Non-degree-seeking students wishing to take mathematics and English classes must also meet prerequisites, which may require completion of the UAS placement tests. Tests results are available within 48 hours after the tests are completed.

Academic Advising

All degree-seeking students should meet with an advisor prior to registration. An academic advisor can ensure that you are placed in the correct class based on your placement test and help you determine which courses are most appropriate for your degree program. Non-degree-seeking students are also welcome to meet with the advisors. Appointments are highly recommended, though walk-in advising is available.
