Eric Olsson was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force after receiving a degree from Rutgers University, He eventually transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard where he focused on oil spill response and vessel inspection duties. He received a master’s degree in resource and port management from the University of Washington and then accepted a position with the University of Washington Sea Grant program as an oil spill prevention and vessel safety specialist. He has level 400 Incident Command System certification and has completed other spill response training in addition to participating in numerous spill exercises and responding to oil spill incidents throughout Puget Sound. Eric also serves as chair of the Training & Education Committee for the Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters and Port Managers where he provides pollution prevention information and develops conference programs that address marina pollution concerns.
