Each course runs for two weeks. You may log in and log off at your leisure throughout the two week timeframe, or you may complete it all in one sitting – it’s up to you!
Meets State and Federal Requirements
Federal regulations require that all AHERA-certified asbestos professionals complete this approved annual refresher course in order to maintain their certification. This course reviews key information from the original course, as well as a review of regulations (new and changes to existing regulations), new legislation, and any new tools or practices of the trade. This course meets the requirements of the State of Alaska DOL 8 AAC 61.600-790, OSHA 29 CFR 1910, 1915 and 1926, and the EPA/AHERA 40 CFR Part 763 subpart E.

The course is divided into six modules and a proctored final exam. You must complete all modules and receive a score of 70% or better on the final exam within the two week timeframe in order to receive your certificate.
Each module consists of a lecture, a discussion board, and a short multiple choice quiz. While you are taking the course, a Satori Group instructor will be monitoring your progress and be available to assist as needed.
After all modules are completed, there is a 30-question proctored final exam.
Arranging an Exam Proctor
In order to offer this course online, the state requires that the final exam is proctored to verify the student’s identity. Both UAS and Satori Group can assist in helping you identify an appropriate proctor in your community if you do not find one on the list of pre-approved proctors.
Who cannot be an exam proctor?
- A family member (exceptions may be allowed in small villages)
- Any person working in your company
Who can be an exam proctor?
- Education staff (elementary, high school, or college/university)
- Military installation education department personnel
- Satori Group staff
- Village health aide
- Village postmaster
Upon successful completion of the course, your certificate will be sent electronically via email, and the original will be mailed within two business days.
You are responsible for filling out and submitting the required application and fees to the State of Alaska in order to receive your renewed asbestos abatement card.
