This course is for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia, who want to learn more about dealing with challenging behaviors effectively and with compassion.
The course begins with an overview of the following topics: warning signs of Alzheimer’s, realistic expectations for those afflicted, how it impacts communication, person-centered care, and caretaker guidelines.
The remaining modules cover: considerations in addressing behavior, common activators, the ABC Method, applying the ABC Method, addressing specific behaviors, bathing considerations, and personal care.
Access to a computer and the internet is required for taking this course.
This is a noncredit training which earns 4 continuing education contact hours.
