UAS Sitka Welcomes it's new Winter Fellow

The UAS Sitka Campus is proud to welcome the new Winter Fellow, Emily Bristol. Emily grew up in rural Minnesota and attended St. Olaf College, where she received a BA in Biology. As a biology student, she focused on environmental topics, particularly climate and ecosystem change. Recently, she was in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, AK, studying climate warming and wildfire in permafrost regions, and she is involved in research projects studying nutrient cycling and greenhouse gas production in aquatic ecosystems. During her time as an undergraduate, Emily played viola with the St. Olaf Orchestra, performing throughout the United States and in South America. When she has free time, Emily looks for opportunities to get outdoors and explore remote places. Currently, Emily is a Sitka Winter Fellow, working as a Science Coach at the University of Alaska Southeast.
