Sherrie Tinsley Myers leads Law Enforcement program

The Sitka Campus is pleased to announce that Sherrie Tinsley Myers, Associate Professor of Justice, is our new Law Enforcement Program Director. Sherrie recently retired after serving over 27 years in federal law enforcement, including assignments with the National Park Service, US Park Police, US Forest Service, and finally as Special Agent in Charge of NOAA Fisheries Enforcement’s Alaska Division. “I’m excited about the opportunity to work with the Law Enforcement A.A.S. degree program – there’s a critical shortage of qualified people for hire into Alaska law enforcement and justice jobs, and this degree program helps to bridge that gap by offering students the education that will improve their knowledge and qualifications.” Sherrie says the online program is critical for people who want to attend classes, but can’t because they don’t have access to a campus or can’t attend classes due to work. “I wanted to go back to school for a long time, but it wasn’t possible when I was doing shift work or traveling frequently – online education was really the only option. I’m proud to be a part of UAS Sitka’s program that offers an enforcement degree in a format that fits into people’s lives.”
