How To's
1. Get your login information:
- Go to the website: http://uascentral.uas.alaska.edu/elmo.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to receive your password information.
- When you create your password remember that it must be 8 digits long and contain a number or a capital letter. <password> won't work but <password42> and <paSSword> will. In addition, your password cannot contain personal information; your last name is not a usable password.
2. Set up your Email:
- Go to the UAS Online Home site at http://uascentral.uas.alaska.edu/online
- Enter your login information that you setup in step 1.
- The first time you log in you will see your profile page. If you want to forward you UAS email to your personal email account, type your email address on the "Forward UAS email to" line.
- Click on "OK" at the bottom of this box.
- If you have logged in before, sign in to your UAS Online page, and click the "Edit Profile" button to forward your email.
- Double check your typing; if you type your email address incorrectly, your email will disappear into the ether.
3. Log in to your course website:
- If you haven't already, go to the UAS Online Home site at http://uascentral.uas.alaska.edu/online.
- Enter your username and password that you setup in step 1.
- Upon successful login, you should see links to your classes.
- Click on the class name for the course website that you want to visit.
- If the class home site tells to follow the link to UAF Blackboard, click the link and log in to Blackboard.
4. Log in to Blackboard:
If your class doesn't link to Blackboard, skip this step.
Follow the directions, but if you can't log in, call Robin Sullivan or Wendy Karchut at 1-800-478-6653. There are often problems with usernames and passwords in Blackboard that getting frustrated and swearing at your computer won't solve.
- Go to the Blackboard home page at http://classes.uaf.edu/.
- Click on the"Login" button on the left-hand side of the page.
- If you are a new student our login should be the same username that you use to log in to UAS Online. If you have logged in to blackboard before, your username and password probably haven't changed.
- Your password is initially set to your UA ID Number followed by a capital U; for example, "34567890U".
- After you have logged in, your classes with a site in Blackboard should be listed on the screen.
- Click on the class name to go to the class site.
5. Contact your instructor:
- If you haven't already logged into the course website, do so following the instructions from step 3.
- The instructor's contact information is located on the top right of the page.
- If instead you see a page with an announcements box, click on the "Go to class website" button at the bottom.
- Send an email to let your instructor know that you have successfully logged into the course website.
