Here are examples of "learning activities" used in online courses -- some have been developed by faculty and staff at Sitka, some are developed elsewhere.

UAS Faculty who need training or support, who are interested in using activities in their classes or have ideas for new activities can contact the IDC.

(Note - If you are using Internet Explorer, you may need to right-click on the yellow Information Bar at the top of the browser window and "Allow Blocked Content" to view some of these activities.)

Breeze Presentation -- starting with a Powerpoint presentation, faculty create "slideshows" that can include animation, audio, and self-testing. More about Breeze

"Flash" Interactions -- a sample of interactive activities we created using Macromedia Flash.

  • Lighting Position -- Click on the lights to see how lighting influences the photograph.
  • Interactive Graph -- On a graph of position vs. time you can control variables and watch the graph change.

Quizzes and Games -- a number of websites and programs allow you to create quizzes and games. These programs are easy to use and either free or low cost.

"learning objects" and other resources can be used to enhance either distance classes or face-to-face classes. Go to the Links section to find archives of online resources.
