English as a Second Language
The ESL program offers FREE classes, individual tutoring and
computer learning programs in English for students of other languages.
Books, audio tapes and video tapes are provided to improve reading and
writing, speaking, listening and pronunciation skills, workplace
literacy, and citizenship guidelines.
Conversational English and vocabulary classes are offered to help
develop listening skills, speaking skills and vocabulary through
discussion groups, individual tutoring, and multi-media activities.
Fall 2009 Schedule
Entry Conversation, Basic ESL, and ESL for Citizenship & Conversation
Monday 4:30 - 6:00pm
Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 - 9:30am
Tuesday 6:30 - 8:00pm
Classes will meet in Room 206. All classes will focus primarily on conversation in class, but students will be given work that focuses on their particular needs or desires.

CITIZENSHIP INFORMATION
Free citizenship information is available at the Learning Center. Assistance with filling out N-400 applications is offered and other necessary documents needed is explained. ESL for Citizenship class meets Tuesday night from 7-8:30pm.
IMMIGRATION ASSISTANCE
An immigration lawyer visits UAS Sitka Campus twice a year. Visits are publicized in the newspaper and appointments may be made through The Learning Center. There is no charge for this service.
