Proctoring and Testing Services
UAS requires that full-time students and those taking math, English, or computer classes take a placement test for class selection. A combination of locally developed tests and the Accuplacer computerized placement tests are used. Tests are given daily during the two weeks prior to the start of the fall and spring semesters and by request the rest of the year.
The English Placement Test (approx. 2 hours) evaluates reading and grammar skills. Students may also complete an optional writing sample.
In the Math Placement Test (approx. 30 min.), students take numerical skills or pre-algebra. Additional tests are available for advanced algebra or math courses and take additional time.
To enroll in certain computer classes you need to take the Computer Placement Test. Before taking the Placement Test, however, please follow the link: http://www.certiport.com/portal/common/ImageLibrary/ic3overview.gif
If you are knowledgeable about everything covered on the link, please come by the Learning Center to take the test. If most of what is covered via the link is unfamiliar, then you do NOT need to take the placement test. Instead, you can enroll directly into CIOS 105. If you plan to enroll in CIOS 105 you do NOT need to take the placement test.
For more information about placement tests, or if you have taken a test in the past, have an incomplete test series, or want to know the results of your test, call 747-7717 or 747-7785.
